There have been six reports of attempted vehicle entry in our community: The Copper Sky, Shoreham, Rim Ridge Rd., Tenby Way, and Campden Pl. area, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO). The suspects appeared to be going car to car looking for open ones. On many cars that were touched (based on a light layer of snow with footprints and car door handles brushed off), the reporting parties stated either the car was not entered due to being locked or was open and personal effects and equipment were stolen. Out of the six reports, only two cars were actually entered.
Tips for Auto Theft Prevention:
1) Lock your car doors
2) Don’t leave items of value in plain sight or in the car at all
3) Don’t leave garage door openers in cars that are not in the garage
4) Don’t leave garage doors open
As we continue to monitor reports, residents who see suspicious activity in the area should dial 9-1-1 to report what they have witnessed and wait for law enforcement to arrive.
