Three of 11 project phases are complete. Work on the northeast corner (Phase 4) is underway. The project team has identified several phasing and process improvements to expedite construction. When possible, the contractor will overlap or combine phases to save time and minimize travel impacts. The City is also exploring the use of 'high-early' concrete, which cures faster than traditional concrete mixes, for some project phases.
During the Douglas County School District fall break (Oct. 12 – 20), Monarch Boulevard just south of Castle Pines Parkway will temporarily close to all traffic. The contractor intends to construct two phases of the intersection project and complete work on the south leg of Monarch Boulevard in nine days. The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change. This section of Monarch Boulevard is narrow and would be difficult to maintain traffic on during construction. Closing the road to perform the work over fall break will impact fewer drivers, save time and benefit safety. Signed detours utilizing Oxford Drive and Yorkshire Drive will be in place from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 through Sunday, Oct. 20.
